Journey to Greatness: Steve Largent

Hall of Famer Steve Largent reflects on how his high school coach transformed him into an NFL record-setter.

Steve Largent held every major NFL receiving record when he retired in 1989 after 14 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. He didn't have prototypical size or speed, but his work ethic—developed under coach Jerry Potter at Putnam City High School in Oklahoma—made him one of the game's best. Potter moved him from running back to receiver and instilled preparation habits that Largent still applies today in politics and business.
