Journey to Greatness: Jason Taylor
In this week's episode of "Journey to Greatness," we explore the inspiring story of Jason Taylor, one of Ohio's greatest defensive linemen in the NFL. From Akron to Canton, a mere 24-mile journey, Taylor's path from the University of Akron to the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a remarkable one. Until 2017, no Akron alumnus had ever been inducted into the Hall, making Taylor's achievement even more significant. Although Taylor grew up in the Pittsburgh area, he didn't start playing football until his junior year at Woodland Hills High School. Despite being a latecomer to the game, he quickly developed a deep passion for it and formed lasting memories with his teammates. This love for football led him to earn a scholarship and play for the University of Akron, where he continued to build an impressive resume. In the 1997 NFL Draft, Taylor was chosen as a third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins, marking the beginning of his professional career.
